S P A C E || The Book of You
23 April @ 7:00 pm - 25 April @ 8:00 pmRM220 - RM660
Career. Life-work balance. Questions, and more. Let’s talk about work. Meaning, and value.
Find out what work you most care about truly is, outside of peer, family, and social pressures.
DK started out in 2004 as an identity design studio, switching in recent years from a new base in Phnom Penh to laser-focusing on clarifying self concept.
Now, DK is guiding leaders towards discovering their way to clear, sharp objectives. Which of course means knowing who you are. Hard questions pop out, necessarily difficult ones to grapple with, but sometimes, it’s exactly what’s needed to redirect and focus on things that matter most. (Watch DK’s short TEDx talk, ’There’s Not That Much Time Left,’ for a backgrounder on our approach.)
This workshop is designed and hosted by Design Kompany Creative Director Dipika Kohli, who will facilitate the short, guided, prompt-led programme. ‘Real life is the best place for exploring these important career and life goal questions. Especially for women. All over the world, we are finding people who ‘want to write’ or ‘carve out time to be creative,’ but who aren’t sure where to begin,’ she says. ‘This choose-your-own-adventure style series of three, one-hour-each workshop is light, and approachable. Reflection work is hard! Making it fun is my job.’ The Book of You makes a low-commitment, but potentially very important, space. ‘Shall we try it? Let’s. Reflection through focused, short writing prompts: that’s a The Book of You.‘
Each day‘s event is one hour. All materials will be provided. Choose one or more days to design your programme: Day 1. Finding your time, Day 2. Inward journey, Day 3. Redirections.

What’s an ‘atelier?’
An atelier is a workshop or studio used by an artist or designer. Design Kompany’s ateliers are hosted by Akira Morita and Dipika Kohli.
ATELIERS, APPRENTICESHIPS & ARTMAKING. Design Kompany is hosting popup zinemaking ateliers. Before fancy academic schools for art and design came along, there were ateliers. Encouraging hands-on learning by doing. Apprentices came. Artworks were made and sold. DK imagine artmaking was less commodity-focused* and more about the experience. And for those seeking training, it wasn’t about, one might guess, the expensive tuition fees that come with ho-hum professors (jaded people who’ve forgotten the meaning of their occupation—here I recommend Art School Confidential). Perhaps it was about the magic, if I let myself be uncool and optimistic, of Art. What it can do. How it connects us, across time, and distance. Let’s *make* something. Let’s play? View gallery >
*Watch the film Posthumous, for a great comment on this.
