五十位新娘，在婚禮當天集體逃亡。為了逃離一場被安排好的婚姻，她們穿著婚紗跨越海洋，來到義大利尋求庇護；而五十位被拋下的新郎，正一步步逼近。 當愛情成為命令，自由成為奢望，無處可逃的新娘該如何反抗命運？創作原點來自希臘悲劇《祈願女》，美國劇作家 Charles L. Mee 以詩意而狂放的語言、音樂、舞蹈與充滿衝擊力的舞台意象，拼貼出一場狂歡又災難的愛情寓言。BIG LOVE》談論權力與服從、慾望與恐懼、男人與女人——在不對等的關係中，人該如何對抗暴力？
Program Introduction
There is no right or wrong when it comes to love.
Fifty brides flee their wedding day. To escape an arranged marriage, they cross the ocean in their wedding gowns to Italy for refuge; while fifty abandoned grooms are closing in. When love becomes a command and freedom becomes a luxury, how can a bride with nowhere to escape resist fate? The inspiration for the work comes from the Greek tragedy “The Prayer Woman.”
Big Love is about power and obedience, desire and fear, men and women: how can one fight violence in unequal relationships? Surely a big question. Can love overcome fear?
