Spend 3 focused days working with paper, structure, and book form.

Each morning, you’ll learn how specific folds, bindings, and structural choices affect how a reader moves through a book. We’ll look at examples, break down how they are made, and discuss when and why to use different formats. Afternoons are on your own, for hands-on work: measuring, cutting, folding, sewing, layering, and assembling your own pieces. Evenings include group discussion and practical feedback on works in progress.

This workshop is open to both beginners and experienced artists. Instruction is step-by-step and skills-based. You do not need prior book arts experience, but you should be ready to work with your hands.

Over five days, participants will:

• Learn and practice several core book structures and binding methods
• Understand basic paper properties and how they affect design decisions
• Develop clean folding, cutting, and sewing techniques
• Build at least a few finished book forms or structured studies
• Receive direct feedback from the instructor
• Gain a working vocabulary to discuss structure and layout clearly

The pace is steady and focused. Studio time is built into each day so you can apply what you learn immediately. Enrollment is small and first-come, first-served.
