Not sure what I think about this, but then again, I have checked out long ago from the system that is the ‘art world’ so it might not matter to most people what kind of opinion I have. I mean, I quit art shool in New York because the stuckness of thinking what the artspeak wants you to think about its art doesn’t work for me; I prefer to wander, fall into the happened-upon, and enjoy what speaks to me without a little piece of paper telling me what it ‘means.’
I am glad, though, that there are art fairs to go to here in Southeast Asia as it is a lot closer to veer to Singapore or Taipei from Phnom Penh than it is to fly half a world to some exhibition far from here in the bigger cities. I did this, too, though, in the early 2010s. I found out what I felt in NY, all over again. Just because it’s expensively produced doesn’t make an art gallery experience ‘worth’ it. Your time has value, too.
I put a little post about Art Taipei into the upcomings section, here at this website. Because having opportunities is great, and I want to make sure we keep having them, so I want to share about what’s on, regionally, besides my own publication’s launch party events.
Checkit.
