Atelier S P A C E has finished its activities in Cambodia and is preparing to meet people in new places again in the real world. Starting in September [edit: October], we will stop by the islands of southwestern Japan and record the places we meet, new thoughts, and new perspectives in our weekly digital magazine S P A C E.
We will create a 12-zine set for S P A C E’s winter collection, Winter 2024/25, ‘The Way.’
So far, so good. I’ve raised USD200 [edit: USD 275] of my USD1500 goal.
‘Sometimes reading what someone else is doing, somewhere else, in real time, and then having a conversation with them to talk and ask questions, to dialogue, is a way to learn. It’s us, right now, talking together. The internet is amazing but I like the two-way conversation, or better yet, the conversation salon. Several of us, discussing and discovering. Atelier S P A C E is gathering input from people, and we’re having a great time thinking about where to go and what stories to shape for S P A C E’s winter series. I’m looking forward to the quiet spaces, the off-the-beaten-path trails, and a new part of Japan for me, Shikoku. I’ve not veered off the JR line too much so parts of Kyushu you can’t get to that way are also on the itinerary. So far, so good. Researching is taking up the bulk of the days here now, but setting things up in advance is how you have to do it for Japan. Different from here in Southeast Asia, or, well, maybe just different… for me.
