N + 1

DK was founded by Dipika Kohli & Akira Morita. DK began in Seattle in 2005 as a design studio: mostly identity design, and mostly for architects or software engineers. Highly process-oriented clients appreciated the team’s acumen in designing concepts, and exploring a very wide range of ideas before fixing on an ‘outcome.’ As such, in Durham NC in the early 2010s, DK began winning commissions for more complex projects. DK’s  ‘play your way to finding something new’ approach to just about everything led to what came next. Moving to Southeast Asia, setting up in Phnom Penh (since 2014), starting new ventures, and publishing a weekly mini-mag for philosophical exploration and ‘the craic,’ as we would have said in Ireland. What’s N+1? Says DK: ‘Keep stretching, keep growing, keep exploring past the edge.’
