‘Slow down to see it.’
Writing about this these days, over at my various newsletters for different groups of people who care about design, journaling, meaningful work, doing what matters, and taking time to really introspect. I’m Dipika Kohli. I guess there’s so much to say about wanting to encourage people to do this, to slow down, I mean. Because I’ve observed how useful it can be. When I see people who truly do this and they know themselves well, they’re able to quickly, decisively, choose their paths… without wavering. No FOMO.
I think it’s easy to get caught up in the mainstream rush, to want to drift over towards some kind of achievement or accolade or recognition. Especially in youth. Naturally. This is why we see so many people writing about that, here on LinkedIn.
I understand it… self-promotion matters to get the next thing. But honestly, I think from what I’ve seen, people who are chasing the next thing without asking, ‘Is this really me, though?’, will undoubtedly reach a point where the getting of it, and getting of the _next_ next thing, will pile up but there won’t be… this intrinsic satisfaction in it. Like, ‘Yeah. I am exactly who I wanted to become. And exaclty where I wanted to be. Zero regrets.’
Isn’t it true?, and when you slow down, to really introspect, I think you may find out how to get there. I’m sharing more through my newsletter now, about this and how to do this. If you’re interested sign up–it’s free to sign up. Here’s a link: dipikakohli.com/newsletter
